Palliative: Livein Care

What is palliative care?

Palliative (or end-of-life) care refers to professional support given to those who are terminally ill and to their families, and can involve treatment of symptoms together with counselling and emotional support.

Palliative care is offered to people with complex advanced incurable diseases and to those whose age, frailty and medical conditions mean they are not expected to live for much longer. If you or a loved one are in need of palliative care, our care coordinator and team will work with you to develop a care plan designed to optimise quality of life and mitigate suffering.

Palliative care includes management of pain and other symptoms and the provision of psychological, social, spiritual and practical support for client and family during what is a uniquely stressful time. This means assistance with day-to-day matters like feeding and bathing, but also by helping everyone involved come to terms with the diagnosis, and offering the space to make the most of the time remaining. When the time comes, your loved one should be allowed to die in peace in the place of their choosing. Dignity and choice are central to all our decision-making in palliative care.

Elite Livein Care's end-of-life champion is our Registered Manager, who will ensure that both client and family receive the requisite support during what is a difficult and distressing time. Sometimes this can mean simply having a cup of tea together and having the opportunity to talk about the feelings and emotions being experienced. Nothing can erase the pain of facing the loss of someone you love, but end-of-life care can help support the whole family and allow your loved one to pass on in comfort and dignity.

I have been a client since January 2020. All I can say is the carers, office staff and management are exceptional. The carers are lovely and they are always understanding. The office staff are always polite over the phone, and if I have any issues, they sort it out for me. The management are amazing, they always call in to check on me. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone that needs care.
